Coach Jacob Benson brings a strong college and professional baseball background, highlighted by leadership, defensive excellence, and high-level playing experience. After developing through competitive travel programs across Southern California, he went on to play at the University of La Verne, where he was a four-year starting infielder at shortstop and second base.
During his collegiate career, Coach Jacob established himself as a cornerstone of the program. He served as team captain from 2018 to 2020, helping lead the Leopards to a SCIAC Conference Championship in 2018. Known for his defensive consistency and reliability, he finished his career as the second all-time assists leader for a shortstop in program history—reflecting both durability and high-level performance over multiple seasons.
Following his time at La Verne, Coach Jacob extended his career internationally, playing professional baseball in France for the Clermont-Ferrand Arvernes. While competing overseas, he also contributed to player development by assisting with camps and providing hitting instruction—gaining valuable coaching experience at the professional level.
Now returning to The Nest Baseball Academy, Coach Jacob brings both familiarity and proven impact, having previously conducted private lessons with the program for over a year. As an instructor, Coach Jacob specializes in developing advanced infield play, defensive consistency, and overall baseball IQ. His experience as a collegiate captain and professional player allows him to mentor athletes not only in skill development, but also in leadership, preparation, and competing at the next level.
